Herriot - a poem

Herriot

He wants to go back in time today
and walk with you in the skeleton
of a castle, his modest trench
coat barely motion in the breeze,

your blue dress a faint ripple.
He wants it to be an exploration
of all the places two people can be
alone within the dank moist stone,

the thick fog gently smothering
all the black fields and futures beyond.
